About Whitney

Whitney Owens, MA, LMHC

Since I was young I have loved people. I am grateful to have spent time traveling and learning about myself and this messy, beautiful family called humanity. My road has been a winding one, introducing me to different cultures and different walks of life. When I encountered therapy for myself, I benefitted tremendously from that time of healing. I knew I had found the work I wanted to do in the world.

I grew up in a religious home and received both my undergraduate and graduate degrees from religious institutions. Though I am on a different path now, I still consider myself spiritual and enjoy studying consciousness, metaphysical spirituality, and ancient wisdom traditions. I enjoy working with clients of all beliefs and backgrounds.

My clinical experience includes inpatient and outpatient settings, program development and coordination, and creating curriculum for individual and group therapy. I have conducted individual, group, and family therapy sessions, led equine therapy for individual and group therapy programs, and conducted therapeutic exposure outings in many settings. My current client focus is limited to individual one-on-one therapy.

Lastly, as a breast cancer survivor, I am passionate about working with those who are facing health challenges. Navigating my own cancer journey was complex and forced me to face vulnerabilities I did not know before. Because of this, I know how difficult it can be to look towards an unknown future while existing in a very challenging present. This time in my own life gave me a passion for those walking similar paths.

Wherever you’ve come from and wherever you’d like to go, I am here to help you process. Please reach out through the contact form to schedule a free phone consultation, and let’s see if we could be a good fit.

“…The names of many snares and dangers have been made known to me, but I have seen them only in looking back. Often I have not known where I was going until I was already there. I have had my share of desires and goals, but my life has come to me or I have gone to it mainly by way of mistakes and surprises. Often I have received better than I deserved. Often my fairest hopes have rested on bad mistakes. I am an ignorant pilgrim, crossing a dark valley. And yet for a long time, looking back, I have been unable to shake off the feeling that I have been led - make of that what you will.”
